In less than a week, Liberty has secured two verbal commitments for the class of 2021, as Joseph Venzant has pledged to the Flames. Venzant joins Brody Peebles who committed to Liberty last week.
Venzant is a 6’3″, 185 pound combo guard from Midland Christian High School in Midland, Texas. He is rated as a 3-star prospect, according to Rivals, with offers from UTSA, UTEP, Wake Forest, Tulsa, and Cal State Fullerton. Liberty also offered Venzant, shortly after his official visit to campus the weekend of September 21st when the football team played Hampton.
Venzant is also receiving heavy interest from Colorado, Texas Tech, and Santa Clara. He’s taken one other official visit, as he recently visited UTSA.
The Flames began recruiting the Texas prospect this past summer after the coaching staff saw some of his film from his sophomore season when he averaged 18.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while being named first-team all-state. Venzant was first turned onto the Flames during the team’s March Madness run when Liberty beat Mississippi State, the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament win.
