Ahead of Conference USA’s media day coming up on Tuesday, the league has released the preseason media poll with Liberty picked to finish second in the program’s first year in the league.

The panel of media members forecast a championship game matchup of WKU and Liberty. The 2023 format is without divisions and will pit the top two teams in conference play against one another in the 2023 Conference USA Championship Game, which will be hosted by the team with the best league winning percentage.
Western Kentucky earned 18 of the 22 first place votes as the Hilltoppers seek their first conference crown since 2016. Liberty, one of four new members in the league this season, picked up the remaining four first place votes and has been projected to meet WKU in the CUSA Championship Game.
Middle Tennessee is picked to finish third in the league this season, followed by Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, UTEP, and Jacksonville State. FIU and Sam Houston are picked in a tie for 8th place in the preseason media poll.
