| Football team seems jacked about the news |
As was announced by the Big South on Thursday, Monmouth University has been added to the Big South as an associate football member. The Hawks will begin competing in the conference in 2014, and will be an independent in 2013. Monmouth comes to the Big South from the Northeast Conference.
Also buried in the Big South’s official release, was the news that Liberty will host Monmouth on September 7, 2013 for Liberty’s home opener. Of course, we already knew this back on January 16th.
Monmouth finished 5-5 last season and had one common opponent with Liberty – Lehigh. Lehigh defeated Monmouth 27-17 on September 1, and later beat Liberty 28-26 on September 22.
 Monmouth is located in West Long Branch, New Jersey, and makes perfect sense for joining the Big South since the conference is spread from Virginia – South Carolina.
