As announced on Saturday, Liberty basketball picked up a commitment from Stavian Allen. Allen is a 6’8″ forward from Cary, North Carolina who will be attending Pace Academy this year. He picked the Flames over Abilene Christian and Campbell who were in his final 3. Allen states these 3 schools were recruiting him the hardest, but he could tell Liberty’s coaching staff “wanted him the best.”
Coach Vince Walden was the first Liberty coach to make contact with him early this Summer at the start of AAU. Allen took an unofficial visit to campus with a friend one weekend over the Summer where he saw the Vines Center and new basketball practice facility. He was really blown away by the facilities and felt this was a place he could call home and “play for the next 4 years.”
Allen indicates that Liberty’s coaching staff intend to see him play at the “stretch 4” position.
