As we continue to countdown to kickoff at Virginia Tech on September 3rd, i decided to rank the Most Important Flames. Admittedly, I got this idea from Virginia Tech beat-writer Andy Bitter who’s doing the same thing for the Hokies. This is a list of the players whose success is most crucial for Liberty doing well this season. It’s not a list of the best or most talented Flames, but most important. Keep that in mind as we go through this countdown.
As a junior college transfer, McGinty will be expected to step in and play immediately. He’s expected to replace Avery James in the starting lineup at the Spur hybrid linebacker/safety spot. Corbin Jackson, who was Liberty’s starting Spur last year, will slide over to James’ vacated safety spot.
Coach Gill was very high on McGinty throughout spring practice as the product from Navasota, Texas immediately came in and made an impact. After playing a couple of seasons of JUCO ball at Tyler Junior College, McGinty’s a veteran and is ready to step in and contribute immediately. If he’s able to produce in the fall like he did in the spring, the secondary won’t miss a beat.
