The 2013 Big South Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held at Coastal Carolina University’s HTC Center March 5-10.
With the addition of Longwood, and Presbyterian now being a full Division I member, all 12 Big South Conference members will be eligible for the 2013 Conference Tournament Championship. Because of this, the conference split the teams into 2 divisions – North and South. Most of you know this, but what about the tournament format?
Seeding will be by divisions — the top two teams with the best overall Conference won-loss percentage in each division shall receive the top four seeds in the championship and first round byes. The remaining seeds shall be determined based on division finish. In the event of a tie for a particular seed, the seed will be determined within each division.
So, if you finish 1st or 2nd in your division you get a first round bye. Also, teams in the North Division will be matched up with teams in the South Division. First round matchups will be as follows:
- #4 North Division vs #5 South Division
- #3 North Division vs #6 South Division
- #4 South Division vs #5 North Division
- #3 South Division vs #6 North Division
