Injury update
As always, here’s your weekly Liberty football injury update:
- DL Francis Bah is out 4-6 weeks with a lower leg injury
- RB Aldreakis Allen is out vs ODU
- LB Dallas Griffiths is out vs ODU
- DL Dominique Davis is out vs ODU
- FBs Nicky Fualaau and Michael Johnson are both questionable
DB Sorie Bayoh back
Senior cornerback Sorie Bayoh played for the first time this season against Kentucky Wesleyan after getting injured prior to the season opener. Bayoh participated last year in 8 games including 1 start where he recorded 13 tackles on the season. Going up against ODU’s potent passing attack, the more defensive backs available, the better.

Big South start
We’ve mentioned it several times in passing both on the site and on our twitter feed, but the success the Big South is having this year is remarkable. Teams are 19-10 on the season, and 14-5 against FCS competition including wins over the Citadel, Appalachian State, Furman (twice), Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Richmond, and Wofford.
The top 3 teams in the conference, Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, and Gardner-Webb, are a combined 12-0 against FCS opponents this season. Throw Liberty in the mix, and the top 4 Big South teams are 14-1 against their FCS counterparts. Crazy.
As we move into Liberty’s bye week next week, be on the lookout for a feature on the Big South’s start as teams prepare for conference play.
James Passmore commit
The Flames have picked up another football commit recently in James Passmore. Passmore is an offensive lineman from Dallas, North Carolina and North Gaston High School. He is listed at 6’6″ and 270 pounds, and had offers from East Carolina, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and Elon. Passmore is the 1st offensive lineman to commit to Liberty in the 2014 class and joins QB Terrance Ervin and DL Javon Majors.
Rashad Jennings’ big day
Former Liberty running back Rashad Jennings had a big day this past Sunday as the Oakland Raiders took on the Washington Redskins. Jennings blocked a punt in the 1st quarter which was recovered in the end zone by the Raiders for a touchdown. After starting running back Darren McFadden succumbed to injury, Rashad stepped in and carried the ball 15 times for 45 yards and hauled in 8 passes for 71 yards.
Basketball trip to DC
The men’s basketball team took a trip to Washington, DC on Thursday. While there the team visited Walter Reed Hospital, and visited with several veterans. One in particular was Eric Zastoupil, a former Division I basketball player at Army, who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan.
The team also received their Big South Championship rings this week.
