Richard Wright named All-American
Liberty long snapper Richard Wright was named to the Sports Network FCS All-America first team. It is Wright’s 2nd career All-American honor as he was also named to the CSN Fabulous Fifty FCS All-America team in 2011. He finished his career this season with his third Big South first-team all-conference honor, and started 45 consecutive games at long snapper.
Fewell to play in College All-Star Bowl
Liberty defensive lineman Jibrille Fewell will play in the College All-Star Bowl which will be played February 14, 2014 at Furman. Fewell is 1 of 2 Big South players to be represented as Charleston Southern defensive back Elijah Lee will join him.
Coastal loses to NDSU
The Chanticleers lost 48-14 last Saturday to North Dakota State ending their season. Coastal finishes their year at 12-3 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs which is the furthest any Big South team has ever made it. Coastal trailed 31-0 late in the first half and never got closer than 20 points the rest of the way. The 2-time defending FCS champion Bison outgained the Chanticleers 623-281 yards just days after their head coach, Craig Bohl, announced he was leaving to become the head coach at Wyoming.
Women’s hoops defeat UNCW
In their only game of the week, the Lady Flames defeated the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington 64-55 on Thursday afternoon in Wilmington, North Carolina. Liberty was led by Ashley Rininger’s 19 points and 13 rebounds. Sadalia Ellis added 11 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. The Lady Flames even their record at 5-5 on the season, and are off until they host Campbell on December 28th as they seek to improve to 2-0 in the Big South.
Update on Basketball signee Braxton Bonds
On Liberty’s recent trip to Austin Peay, assistant coach Omar Mance was able to stop in and check on point guard Braxton Bonds. Bonds and his Christ Presbyterian Academy teammates are off to a 9-0 start as they seek to defend their 2 state titles.

Jennings continues strong play
Rashad Jennings bounced back from his concussion he suffered on Thanksgiving day against the Cowboys with 103 total yards and 2 touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jennings already has personal season bests with 679 rushing yards, 257 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns with 2 games left in the regular season.
