Basketball gets first win
The men’s basketball team picked up their first win in conference play this season by beating Campbell on Tuesday night. The Flames used the hot shooting of Ryan Kemrite and solid offensive production in the 2nd half by David Andoh to cruise to a comfortable lead in the waning minutes of the game. It was Liberty’s first win since late December and its first win over a Division I opponent since December 1st. Liberty is now 1-12 in Big South play and heads south to face Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Moller out indefinitely
Freshman guard Peter Moller left the team prior to the Campbell game due to a family emergency. There is no expected time table for his return. Moller has played in 25 games this season and started 19. The freshman guard is averaging 7.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game this season.

Gielo out for season, will apply for medical redshirt
Senior forward Tomasz Gielo is out for the remainder of the season and will apply for a medical redshirt. If the medical redshirt is granted, Gielo would be able to return for the 2015-16 season. He played in the first seven games of the season, but has been out since then due to a stress fracture in his right foot. Prior to his injury, Gielo was leading the Flames with 12 points per game. He was also averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.

Women’s hoops update
The Lady Flames have now beaten Coastal Carolina 44 straight times after beating the Chanticleers 78-64 earlier this week. 44 straight wins over any opponent is impressive, much less to do so against one of your conference rivals. Ashley Rininger and Mickayla Sanders led Liberty in scoring. LU is now 18-6 on the year and 14-1 in Big South play. With just a few weeks left in the regular season, the Lady Flames are currently projected as a 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN’s Bracketology. baseballBaseball update
Liberty’s baseball team gets their season underway beginning today. The Flames are in Atlanta for the Atlanta Challenge and will face Kennesaw State Friday afternoon at 4pm. Liberty also has games scheduled for Saturday against Georgia State and Sunday against Georgia Tech. The Flames’ first home game is not until February 27th. Schedule change for weekend
Due to the weather forecast, Liberty’s opening weekend schedule has changed. The Flames will now play Kennesaw State at 3pm on Friday instead of 4, and will play Georgia State in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon. Sunday’s game against Georgia Tech has been cancelled. The games are still on this schedule even after a car crashed through the outfield fence of Kennesaw State’s stadium late Thursday night.

Football to play North Texas
As was announced by North Texas earlier this week, Liberty will travel to Denton, Texas in 2016 to face the North Texas Mean Green. North Texas is currently a member of Conference USA and finished the 2014 season with a record of 4-8. North Texas is the 2nd reported nonconference game for the 2016 season, with the other game being against Virginia Tech on September 3rd.
