Baseball moves up to #17
After a weekend sweep of Gardner-Webb and splitting a pair against ACC opponents Clemson and North Carolina, the Flames have moved up to #17 in RPI. Liberty has also moved into the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 at #30. The Flames return to action this weekend with a 3 game set against UNC-Asheville. UNCA is 12-29 on the season and #277 in RPI.
Basketball signing period
The Flames have announced the signing of Peter Moller and James Johnson this week. With the addition of a commitment from David Andoh, who has not signed but has until May 21st to do so, Coach Layer is at the scholarship limit of 13 barring any additional changes. Hopefully you caught our piece from Thursday where we discussed the 2013-14 roster and the potential starting lineup.
Football recruiting
Coach Gill and his staff remain busy on the recruiting front. As of Thursday, we had 20 scholarship offers the coaching staff had issued for the class of 2015. 9 of these are 3-star prospects according to the various recruiting services. It looks like the secondary is again an emphasis, as 8 of the 20 offers have been to defensive backs. There have not been any commitments to this point, which is not uncommon for this level.

The Orlando Sentinel is doing a countdown of all 128 FBS programs entering the 2014 season. Liberty opponent Appalachian State checks in at #126. The Flames face the Mountaineers in Boone on October 11th.
Todd Gurley on campus
Georgia running back Todd Gurley was on campus in Lynchburg this past weekend. No worries Bulldog fans, he was just visiting a friend of his who attends Liberty.

Track & Field and Men’s Golf BSC Champs
Congratulations to the men’s track & field team and the men’s golf team who both won Big South Conference Championships this past week. The feat is nothing new for either program as the track & field team has won 8 consecutive championships and the golf team has won 3 out of the past 4 championships.
