Here’s how Liberty football’s 2021 opponents fared in week 3:
Campbell (1-2): Beat Presbyterian 72-0.
Campbell quarterback Wiley Hartley threw 6 touchdowns and Presbyterian committed 10 turnovers as the Camels blew out Liberty’s old Big South football rival.
Troy (2-1): Beat Southern Mississippi 21-9
Troy quarterback Taylor Powell threw for 255 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Trojans rebounded from their loss to Liberty last week.
Syracuse (2-1): Beat Albany 62-24
Syracuse running back Sean Tucker’s 13-carry, 132 yard, 4-touchdown performance carried the Orange to a blowout win over Albany.
Alabama Birmingham (2-1): Won At North Texas 40-6
After a tough game against #3 Georgia last week, UAB handled North Texas. The Flames face both UAB and North Texas this year.
Middle Tennessee (1-2): Lost at UTSA 27-13
Middle Tennessee hung with Virginia Tech through two quarters, but the Hokies used a two-touchdown 3rd quarter to put the Blue Raiders away.
Louisiana-Monroe (1-1): Beat Jackson State 12-7
Coached by Deion Sanders, Jackson State proved that they could compete with an FBS team. But a late comeback attempt fell just short.
Massachusetts (0-3): Lost to Eastern Michigan 42-28
Two first-quarter Eastern Michigan touchdowns doomed UMass. In the second, third, and fourth quarters, the teams scored 7, 7, and 14 points; respectively.
#17 Mississippi (3-0): Beat Tulane 61-21
Ole Miss’s offense simply overpowered in this one. Heisman candidate Matt Corral completed 23 of 31 passes for 3 touchdowns as the Rebels coasted past the Green Wave.
Louisiana (2-1): Beat Ohio 49-14
Louisiana wideout Montrell Johnson caught 4 touchdown passes as Louisiana handled the Ohio Bobcats.
Army (3-0): Beat Connecticut 52-21
Army’s unique offensive scheme was too much for UConn to handle as the Huskies drop to 0-4.
