Campbell receiver Caleb Snead’s 178-yard receiving effort wasn’t enough as Campbell fell to Monmouth. Campbell takes on Kennesaw State next week.
TROY (4-3): Beat Texas State 31-28
Troy cornerback Keyshawn Swanson’s pick-six with 8:18 left in the 4th quarter lifted the Trojans to a road win over 2-4 Texas State. Trojan running back Kimani Vidal rushed for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
OLD DOMINION (1-6): Lost to Western Kentucky 43-20
WKU quarterback Bailey Zappe’s 397-yard, 5-touchdown outburst helped Western Kentucky breeze past ODU. ODU hosts Louisiana Tech next week.
SYRACUSE (3-4): Lost to Clemson 17-14
Syracuse running back Sean Tucker’s incredible year continued with a 157-yard, 7-yards per carry performance, but it wasn’t enough as the Orange fell to now-unranked Clemson. Syracuse still has plenty of good to take away from this game, as the Orange defense held the Tigers to just 314 total yards.
ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM (5-2): BEAT Southern Mississippi 34-0
UAB seized control early – putting up 28 points in the 2nd quarter to breeze past Southern Miss. UAB plays host to Rice next week.
NORTH TEXAS (1-5): LOST to Marshall 49-21
With a 35-7 halftime lead, the outcome of this game was decided fairly quickly. Flames fans should make note of North Texas running back DeAndre Torrey, who rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Torrey has been North Texas’s primary offensive weapon, and he will be a test for Liberty’s defense next week.
MASSACHUSETTS (1-5): Bye Week
#13 MISSISSIPPI (5-1): BEAT Tennessee 31-26
Mississippi endured a 20-minute delay due to debris being thrown on the field but managed to escape with a narrow road win. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral threw for 231 yards and rushed for 195 more.
LOUISIANA (5-1): Beat Appalachian State 41-13
This game took place Tuesday, October 12. The Ragin’ Cajuns took a 20-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back.
ARMY (4-2): Lost at Wisconsin 20-14
When Army has trouble running the ball, they usually don’t win. This was the case here, as Wisconsin held the Black Knights to just 179 total yards on the ground. Army hosts Wake Forest next week.
