Coming off an historic season that was capped by winning the 2019 Cure Bowl, it is time to look at who’s coming back in 2020 for the Flames and what the depth chart could look like. Liberty does not start the season until September 5th so look for changes between now and then, obviously.
On offense, the Flames will lose 6 players that started in the Cure Bowl. They will lose Buckshot Calvert, Antonio Gandy-Golden, Frankie Hickson, Dontae Duff, Zac Foutz, and Sam Isaacson.
Liberty will replace these six starters with 3 transfers. Malik Willis, who sat out this past season per NCAA transfer rules, and Bryce Matthews who is a graduate transfer from Ole Miss, look for both of them to start. Malik will be a dual threat QB who transferred in this past summer from Auburn. The Flames #1 recruit is JUCO Javian Lofton. Look for Lofton to start at WR.
With the late December addition of Maine graduate transfer Chris Ferguson, his battle with Willis and Johnathan Bennett at quarterback could be very intriguing during the spring.
