Liberty has picked up a commitment from 2023 prospect Reese Mooney, he announced on his social media accounts Tuesday afternoon.
Mooney is a 6’1″, 200 pound quarterback from Denham Springs, Louisiana where he attends Denham Springs High School. He is a two-sport star and also plans on playing baseball with the Flames. Mooney took an official visit to Liberty the first week of June.
Last October, Mooney named a top 11 of Vanderbilt, Liberty, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, Miami, Houston, and UAB. He first committed to Vanderbilt before having a change of heart earlier this year and decommitting from the SEC program.
Mooney is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 27 quarterback in the class of 2023 and the No. 22 prospect in Louisiana. He has over 30 offers including Vanderbilt, Liberty, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Memphis, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Syracuse.
Mooney is the second quarterback commit in the Class of 2023, joining Lipscomb Academy’s Hank Brown.
