- The win gives the Flames at least a share of 6 of the past 7 Big South Conference championships.
- With the win, Coastal Carolina claims the Big South auto-bid to the FCS playoffs due to their head to head win over Liberty.
- The Flames keep their hopes alive for an at-large bid to the playoffs.
- With the exception of the 1 long run play at the start of the 2nd half, Liberty’s defense was lights out all afternoon.
- Walt Aikens led the Flames with 8 tackles.
- Jacob Hagen had 2 interceptions, Kenny Scott and Kevin Fogg each had 1.
- Josh Woodrum did a masterful job of managing the game. The redshirt-sophomore finished 23/28 passing for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added 40 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 5 carries.
- Woodrum spread the ball around to his receivers. The Flames had 6 different receivers with at least 2 receptions. Gabe Henderson led the way with 5 receptions for 55 yards.
- The Buccaneers continually shot themselves in the foot in the first half with inopportune penalties. They had 9 penalties called against them in the first 30 minutes.
- The win is Liberty’s first road victory over a ranked opponent since 2008 when they defeated #23 Youngstown State 31-28.
- This was a very nice, convincing win for the Flames who conclude their regular season with 5 consecutive victories and an 8-4 overall record.
