A few quick hit notes following Liberty’s win over Gardner-Webb, 33-17:
- The Flames finally ended their 4 game losing streak, knocking off the Runnin’ Bulldogs for the team’s first win since September 16th. With 3 games left on the season, Liberty has evened their record at 4-4.
- Jeremy Peters had 3 interceptions including one he returned 15 yards for a touchdown giving the team a 33-17 lead with 2:38 left in the game.
- After being unable to stop opposing offenses once they reach the red zone for the duration of the losing streak, Liberty’s defense was stout against Gardner-Webb once the reached the Liberty 20 yard line. GWU was 1/4 in the red zone on the afternoon, with their lone score coming on a 22 yard field goal. Gardner-Webb also missed a field goal, was intercepted, and had a field goal blocked.
- Carrington Mosley had 123 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. He was the Flames’ entire rushing attack, as the team had 125 rushing yards.
- Buckshot was very efficient, passing 21/34 for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. He connected with Antonio Gandy-Golden for 123 yards and a touchdown and Damian King for 108 yards and a touchdown. Cephas Reddick also had 5 receptions for 73 yards.
- Liberty returns home next weekend as they play host to Duquesne. The Dukes are 7-1 on the season and are winners of 7 consecutive games. The Flames are 4-4 on the season, and will need to win at least 2 of their final 3 games to keep their streak of 11 consecutive seasons with a winning record alive.
Another poor showing against a VERY bad GW team. Gill needs to go.
