A few rapid reactions following Liberty’s 80-58 loss to Charleston Southern on Wednesday night:
- The Buccaneers led the entire way after jumping out to an early 8-0 lead. They really padded their lead in the final 16 minutes of the game.
- Ryan Kemrite did his best to keep the Flames close early, as he knocked down his first three 3-point attempts, all of them early. He would finish the game with just the 9 points after missing his last three 3-point attempts.
- Theo Johnson was aggressive all night attacking the basket. That doesn’t sound like a big deal, but he’s one of the only guys to look for his shot. Unfortunately, he was just 2/8 from the field. Johnson would finish with 10 points and 9 boards.
- Same story, different game. Liberty had 22 turnovers for the game. CSU outscored the Flames, 32-8, on points off turnovers.
- Peter Moller had one of his better offensive games f or Liberty. The freshman guard finished with 14 points on 5/10 shooting.
- Charleston Southern attempted 36 3-pointers on the night. They knocked down 17 of them, good for 47%, all while Liberty stayed in a zone. I’m not a coach, but at some point don’t you have to get out of the zone?
- Saah Nimley with a career-high 30 points. He had 7 made 3-pointers.
- The Flames are now 0-5 in Big South play and 0-9 on the road this season. Next up Liberty travels to Farmville to face Longwood in a gym they have never won a game in.
