The Flames defeat Mississippi Valley State, 70-55. Here’s our rapid reactions:
- For the 2nd consecutive game, Ryan Kemrite finished with 21 points. On Monday, he made his due from the free throw line, knocking down 11 free throws. Against the Delta Devils, he connected on 7 of 10 3-pointers. led the way for Liberty.
- Caleb Homesley had another solid outing, finishing the game with a team-high 22 points and 6 rebounds. Homesley is quickly becoming Liberty’s most dynamic athlete and a go-to scorer
- Ezra Talbert had his best game of the young season, finishing the game with 8 points. He did most of his work in the first half.
- Ezra’s younger brother Josiah didn’t check in to the game until the final minute. He finished with 1 point in the game.
- The Flames win consecutive games against non-conference Division I opponents for the first time since November 29-30, 2013 when Liberty beat Hampton and Sam Houston State.
- Liberty did all their work to do without their leading scorer John Dawson having much of an impact. Dawson went on to score 5 points on 2/6 shooting in 24 minutes.
- Coach McKay’s squad held MVSU to 47% shooting on the afternoon. Meanwhile, Liberty 54% from the field and from behind the 3- point line.
- Lovell Cabbil did not play, after hitting his head on the floor Monday night against UMass Lowell.
- Liberty returns to action for a big test against in-state foe William & Mary on Saturday. The game is scheduled to tip at 4pm in Williamsburg.
