Rapid reactions following Liberty’s 62-58 home loss to Presbyterian:
- Is this the worst home loss in school history? It’s definitely one of the worst. Presbyterian was 0-10 against Division I opponents coming into the game and had an RPI of 348. They won 2 conference games last season.
- This is a loss that coaches get fired for. I wouldn’t be upset if Layer was fired tonight. We know it won’t happen though.
- The Flames were 11/21 from the free throw line. Tough to win many games with numbers like those.
- A couple of individual bright spots: Joe Retic finished with 14 points and 7 assists and Ethan Layer had a career-high 14 points on 4 made 3’s.
- Think it can’t get any worse? The Flames upcoming slate looks like this: @ UNCA, vs Coastal, @ CSU, @ Longwood, vs Winthrop, @ Radford. Liberty will be the underdog in each. Then again, when you rank dead last in RPI, you will be an underdog in every game. Other than the Campbell and Longwood home games, I wouldn’t predict LU to win any other games this year.
- This is embarrassing. I attended Liberty when it was a basketball school. I fell in love with Flames Athletics in the Vines Center. Seeing the program this low is devastating.
- When does baseball start?
