A few thoughts following Liberty’s 69-61 loss to Presbyterian on Friday night:
- Liberty falls to 0-12 in Big South play.
- The Flames have set a school record for most consecutive Big South losses including conference tournament games at 14.
- For the first time in 12 Big South games this season, the Flames held their first 2nd half lead. Liberty led for all of 20 seconds at the 17 minute mark of the 2nd half, 39-38. PC would quickly regain the lead they would not relinquish.
- Jordan Dembley continues his solid play at point guard. He finished with 2 points, 7 assists, and 3 turnovers in 29 minutes.
- The Flames were 6/10 from 3-point range at one point in the 2nd half, but finished the game 7/21.
- Ryan Kemrite finished with 14 points on 4 made 3-pointers.
- Drew Smith finished with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
- Liberty’s offense looked more crisp tonight than its been just about all season. The ball movement was very good, and there wasn’t a lot of standing around waiting for the shot clock to get to 5 before looking for a shot.
- DeSean Murray was the difference in the game. Two otherwise even teams, the freshman forward finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds. He made winning plays at winning times.
- Presbyterian’s leading scorer, Jordan Downing, did not play due to hurting his back in PC’s last game.
- Maybe Liberty’s best chance to get a win in conference play comes on Tuesday at home against Campbell.
