Liberty loses to Winthrop, 74-61, on Wednesday night. Here are our Rapid Reactions:
- It’s been a long day that started at 7 this morning with a full day of signing day. Let’s make this quick.
- The Flames fall to 0-11 in Big South play for the first time in school history. Liberty finished the 1998-99 season 0-10.
- Liberty is 6-18 overall and 2-18 against Division I opponents.
- The Flames went over 8 minutes without a field goal in the first half during which Winthrop went on a 19-4 run. Liberty doesn’t have enough offensive firepower to overcome extended droughts like that.
- You know how teams always are “up” for games against the best teams they face on their schedule? Like Kentucky or UVA this season? It seems like some Big South teams do just the opposite of that against Liberty. Maybe the Flames just force the other teams to not play well, but it always feels like the opponent is flat.
