The NFL Preseason has come to a close as teams now turn their attention to the 2023 regular season. Here’s how former Liberty players fared this past weekend in the NFL preseason games.

QB MALIK WILLIS

Malik Willis started all three games for the Titans during the preseason, including playing the entire game each of the last two weeks. This week, Willis had his best game of the preseason. He completed 15 of 20 passes for 211 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He also rushed 8 times for 17 yards. One of the two picks was a pass thrown behind the receiver that could have been caught as it went off the receiver’s hands before being picked off. The other one was a bad read by Malik as a linebacker stepped in front of the pass for the interception. Willis did show tremendous growth during the preseason, had great accuracy, and showed his development from last season. He should be the favorite to be Ryan Tannehill’s backup and is almost assured of making the 53-man roster.

WR DEMARIO DOUGLAS

Demario did not play in the week 3 preseason game. He was limited during practice most of the week with a shoulder injury. Douglas finished the preseason with 2 catches for 17 yards while playing only a handful of offensive snaps during the preseason. He is expected a safe bet to make the Patriots’ 53-man roster. It will be interesting to see how involved he is in New England’s offense each week.

DE DURRELL JOHNSON

Johnson recorded one tackle, a tackle for loss, for the Cowboys on Sunday against the Raiders. Johnson is probably a long-shot to make the 53-man roster for the Cowboys, but he likely has a very good chance to make their practice squad.

Next game: @ New York Giants, Sunday, Sep. 10, 8:20 p.m., NBC

CB DURON LOWE

Lowe had one pass defensed in this week’s preseason game for the Chiefs against the Browns. Lowe is likely a long-shot to make the 53-man roster for the Chiefs.
