Here’s how former Liberty players fared this past week in the first week of the NFL season.
QB MALIK WILLIS
Now in Green Bay, Willis entered the season opener for the Packers on the last two plays of the game when starting quarterback Jordan Love exited with an injury. Down 5 with 6 seconds left and the ball near midfield, Willis threw an incomplete pass and was then sacked to conclude the game, a 34-29 loss to the Eagles.
Love has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks. Currently, Willis is slated to be the starter for the Packers moving forward, but there have been whispers of Green Bay potentially looking to bring in another quarterback.
