Coach McKay and staff have been working on finalizing the Class of 2015, and things are starting to move. So, here’s a recap of where Liberty stands with the Class of 2015.

Lovell Cabbil: committed to Liberty while on visit

The first name that came to our attention after McKay was hired 3 weeks ago was Cabbil. Omar Mance visited Cabbil on April 9th in Texas, and the Flames offered just a few days later. Cabbil visited this past weekend, and committed on Saturday while on his visit becoming McKay’s first commit since returning as Liberty’s head coach. He has been described as a “scoring guard who can shoot from anywhere on the floor.” He helped lead his high school to the regional semifinals while beating teams with high major prospects including Kimball High (Jawun Evans) and Allen High (Olin Carter III). Cabbil is his high school’s all-time leading scorer and averaged 23 points per game as a senior. I wouldn’t be shocked if he cracks the starting lineup in his freshman season.

Hansel Atencia: visited LU this weekend

Atencia was the first offer McKay’s new staff handed out. The 5’10” pass-first point guard is originally from Colombia, but moved to the US in September of 2014. Atencia visited Liberty over the weekend, and also has offers from Marshall and NJIT. He also visited Marshall last week. He attends Mountain Mission High School in Grundy, Virginia and is coached by Liberty alum and former graduate assistant Pawel Mrozic. He averaged 8.5 points, 5.2 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game during his senior season. Keep an eye on his recruitment, he would be a huge get for the Flames at a position of need.

Anthony Eaves: visit has been postponed

Eaves was originally scheduled to take a visit to Liberty this past weekend, but that visit got postponed. At this time, no makeup date has been scheduled, to our knowledge. He has offers from Tennessee Tech, Ball State, and Morehead State. He is the son of Jerry Eaves who played on Louisville’s 1980 national championship team and was also North Carolina A&T’s head coach from 2003-2012. His brother, Frank Eaves, was named 2nd-team All-Sun Belt this past season after scoring 16.6 points per game for Appalachian State.

Miles Crawford: visited LU this weekend

Crawford visited campus over the weekend. He’s a 6’2″ guard originally from Denton, Texas where he attended Guyer High School. He averaged 11.6 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game during his senior season at Guyer. This past season he spent a postgrad year at Elev8 Sports Institute in Delray Beach, Florida. His only reported offer is from NJIT. He is still waiting on a Liberty offer.
