Liberty has hired Josh Linam as linebackers coach ASOR can confirm, as first reported by 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello. Linam replaces Robert Bala who was named Alabama’s linebackers coach earlier this spring.
Linam comes to Liberty from Auburn where he was a defensive analyst working with the linebackers and was previously a senior analyst at Georgia Tech. He also served as linebackers coach at Jacksonville State. In 2017, Linam was a defensive analyst at Temple and was previously a defensive graduate at Florida.
He spent the 2015 season as a grad assistant at his alma mater, UCF. He played four seasons as linebacker at UCF and was a two-year starter where he registered 165 tackles, 3 sacks, 6 pass breakups, and three interceptions. After graduating from UCF, he signed with the San Diego Chargers as a free agent and then spent time with the Miami Dolphins prior to the 2012 season.
