According to Matt Zenitz of On3Sports, Liberty is expected to hire West Virginia wide receivers coach Tony Washington to the same position.
Washington previously worked under new Liberty head coach Jamey Chadwell as the wide receivers coach at Coastal Carolina in 2020 and 2021. Washington joined West Virginia and head coach Neal Brown this past February. Now, he reunites with his former boss in Lynchburg.
Prior to his time at Coastal, Washington was a grad assistant at Louisville in 2019 and a quality control coach at East Carolina in 2018. Originally from High Point, North Carolina, Washington was an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State, signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014. He spent time in the NFL from 2014-2017 with the Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New England Patriots.
Washington joins Kyle Krantz who is set to join the Flames as special teams coordinator, coming from Missouri.
