Liberty will receive $1 million for its October 26, 2019 visit to Rutgers, according to copy of the contract obtained from Rutgers under the Freedom of Information Act.
Currently, this is the largest reported figure the Flames will receive for a football game. Previously, it was reported that Liberty will receive $500,000 and $700,000 for games against the University of Virginia. The final contract numbers for Liberty’s 2018 game at Auburn and 2021 game at Ole Miss, as well as others, haven’t been reported yet.
This number is fair market value for Power 5 opponents hosting Group of 5 FBS opponents. Similarly, Rutgers will pay UMass $1.3 million for a game on August 31, 2019. Liberty is paying Old Dominion $1.32 million to be Liberty’s first ever home game against an FBS opponent on September 1, 2018.
