Former Liberty safety Gary Sampson had a court hearing today from his April 4, 2015 arrest and charge with sale, distribution of marijuana, a class 5 felony. His charge was amended to possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor and he was sentenced to 90 days jail time with all 90 days suspended. Sampson’s license will be suspended for 6 months and he has a $500 fine. All this is according to online court records.
Coach Gill announced Sampson was removed from the football program due to a violation of team rules in May. Sampson started 13 of Liberty’s 14 games last season at safety. He finished 6th on the team in tackles with 51 and also had 2 interceptions.
