This Saturday when the Flames face Charleston Southern, it will be senior day for Liberty’s senior class. This year, to highlight the occasion, we are going to put a spotlight on one senior per day. There is only 7 days until senior day this Saturday, and there will be more than 7 seniors honored. So, we can’t highlight each and every senior, but we will be able to honor 7 of them.

Today, is JaRon Greene day!

The 6’2″, 310 pound defensive lineman from Beaumont, Texas and West Brook High School came in as a true freshman and immediately made an impact.

He’s a senior. He’s been here. He’s come in and started. I think his 2nd or 3rd game of his career he became a starter for us. Got a chance to play probably 50% of the reps his first game against Kent State. When I called his name, he was like, ‘who me?’ Yeah you. Went in and did a great job, a phenomenal job. He was able to not look back after that Kent State game. He’s done a nice job for us. Good kid, works hard. Really poured into his spring. He’s done a super job this past summer. Now, I think its all starting to pay off for him.

Vantz Singletary

DL Coach

Greene has been a steady force on the interior of Vantz Singletary’s defensive line for the past 4 seasons. He dropped about 25 pounds before the start of his senior year, and the preseason All-Big South selection has had his best year yet. Greene had a career day earlier this season against Jacksonville State, setting single-game career bests in tackles (9), sacks (2), and tackles for loss (2.5). Greene has eclipsed the 100 career tackle mark, and he has 33 tackles so far this season, well on his way to besting his personal high of 36 tackles set last year as a junior. He has played in 44 career games and his 33 career starts are the most on the Flames’ defense.

Congratulations JaRon and job well done on a fantastic career at Liberty!
