Mid-year transfer
Will Johnson
As Chris Lang reported yesterday, and we mentioned in our Signing Day Primer, the Flames picked up a mid-year transfer in Tight End Will Johnson from West Virginia. He was a 3 star recruit coming out of Osseo High School in Osseo, Minnesota according to Rivals, ESPN, and Scout. He had a number of offers when he was recruited out of high school including West Virginia, Minnesota, Auburn, Boston College, Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas. Coach Gill was Kansas’ head coach at the time of his recruitment. Johnson redshirted in 2012, his freshman year, and notified the Mountaineers in August 2013 that he intended to transfer. The 6’6″, 245-pounder will have 3 seasons of eligibility remaining.
NLIs Received:
DL Javon Majors
Majors was one of Liberty’s first verbals, and he stuck to his early commitment. The 6’3″, 250 pound defensive lineman comes to the Flames from Virginia Beach’s Ocean Lakes High School. Liberty was his only reported offer.
S Avery James
James comes from the prestigious Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina. Rivals has him as a 2 star prospect with offers from Richmond, Chattanooga, Eastern Illinois, and Illinois State. Liberty was the first to offer him in late July, and he committed January 26th.
OL Gregg Storey
Storey flew under the radar of most national recruiting agencies with Liberty being his only reported offer. The 6’5″, 315-pound offensive lineman comes from Cary, North Carolina where he attended Panthers Creek High Scool.
OL James Passmore
Passmore is a 2 star prospect who chose Liberty over offers from East Carolina, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and Elon. The 6’6″, 270-pound lineman comes from Dallas, North Carolina’s North Gaston High School.
WR B.J. Farrow
From nearby Liberty Christian Academy, Farrow only claimed an offer from the Flames. His high school coach Frank Rocco described him as “flat-out the best receiver I’ve ever coached, maybe even that I’ve ever seen, in high school.” If Farrow can live up to that high praise, he could be a huge steal for Coach Gill and the Flames. Many schools shied away from him due to late qualifying status. Farrow is 6’2”, 170-pounds.
FB Daquin Edwards
Edwards is a 6’0″, 230-pound back from Lake Butler, Florida where he attended Union County High School. He rushed for 808 yards and 12 touchdowns on 132 carries as a senior. Liberty is his only reported offer.
S Cam Jackson
Jackson was one of the last commits to pledge to Coach Gill & company, as he gave his verbal during his official visit this past weekend. Liberty is his only reported Division I offer. Jackson is from Pearland, Texas, and is Lutheran South Academy’s first athlete to sign a Division I scholarship.

CB Chris Turner
Turner is the first surprise name of the day. The 6’3″, 175 pound defensive back comes Columbia, South Carolina and Denmark-Olar High School. Turner suffered injury after playing just 2 games during his senior season, but as a junior he recorded 10 interceptions. 7 of which he returned for a touchdown! Liberty is Turner’s only reported offer.
QB J.T. Bradwell
Shortly after former Liberty commit Terrance Ervin decommitted, Coach Turner Gill ramped up his pursuit of Bradwell. He took his official visit during homecoming weekend, and gave the Flames a verbal on October 28th. He had offers from Arkansas State, Georgia State, Samford, South Alabama, and South Dakota. Bradwell hails from Tallahassee, Florida where he attended Godby High School, and is a 2-star prospect.

Avery is 6’4″, 235-pounds from Texas City, Texas where he attended Ball High School. He recorded 78 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks during his senior season.
CB Corbin Jackson
Jackson played both receiver and defensive back in high school, and committed to Liberty back in November. Corbin Jackson is 6’0″ and 190 pounds from Charlotte, North Carolina where he attended Victory Christian Academy.
