Liberty’s basketball program is missing one vital piece that is keeping it from being an annual Big South Conference Championship contender. That one piece is a high-level assistant coach who knows Liberty and can recruit the talented players the Flames need to succeed.
That assistant coach is Jason Allison.
Allison graduated from Liberty in 1999 after playing for the Flames from 1995-1998. While at Liberty he was a part of 2 teams that made it to the Big South Conference Tournament final. Liberty has only 4 finals appearances in school history. The 1996-97 team was one of the best in school history as they won the Big South regular season title and finished 23-9.
Jason has spent the past 8 seasons as an assistant coach at VMI where he has recruited and coached some of the best players in the Big South. Allison recruited Austin Kenon, Chavis and Travis Holmes, Stan Okoye, and D.J. Covington, just to name a few. Okoye is the reigning Big South Player of the Year while Covington is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
Prior to his time at VMI, Allison coached at LCA, Lees-McRae College, Gaston Day School, and King College.
