According to a school release, Ritchie McKay has suspended Theo Johnson indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
Johnson appeared in all 32 games for Liberty last season including 22 starts. He finished the year averaging 10 points per game, 2nd best on the team. Johnson is one of just 2 seniors on the roster, the other being incoming transfer Anthony Fields. Johnson’s name has been removed from the team’s roster online. He transferred to Liberty from the College of Charleston prior to the start of the 2014-15 basketball season.
Without Johnson, the Flames are down to 8 scholarship players this season. Head Coach Ritchie McKay will begin the year with just 7 scholarship players as transfer John Dawson doesn’t become eligible until after the 1st semester has finished.
