Former NCAA champion and Liberty Flame Sam Chelanga hopes to provide water filters to his home village in Kenya via a yoga class in his training base of New Hampshire. You can read more about Chelanga’s plans here.
Liberty finished 7th in the 2013-14 VaSID Division I All-Sport Championship with an overall winning percentage of 51.2%. The Flames also led all Division I schools in Virginia with 8 conference championships.
Liberty kicker John Lunsford has been named to the 2014 CFPA FCS Placekicker Receiver Award Watch List. Lunsford is one of 36 kickers listed including Big South brethren Alex Catron (Coastal Carolina) on the list. Josh Woodrum, Nick Sigmon, Darrin Peterson, and Jacob Hagen have also been named to their respective CFPA FCS Award Watch Lists as mentioned previously. Lunsford has been suspended for the first 2 games of the 2014 season.

The Flames’ 6th Hall of Fame class will be inducted and honored during the weekend of Liberty’s home football game against Bryant on September 20th.
