Over the past several years, Liberty has produced a number of professional basketball players, and several of them continue to play, whether in the States or overseas. Here’s an update on where several former Flames are playing.
Lovell Cabbil
Cabbil is currently competing in the Superleague in Georgia for Tbilisi State University. It is the former Liberty guard’s second season in the league and his first for Tbilisi. He currently leads his team in scoring at 21.3 points per game while making 44.2% of his field goals and 36.7% from three. Cabbil is also averaging 6.2 rebounds and a team best 5.8 assists per game. He also leads the team with 3.1 steals per game.
Tomasz Gielo
After finishing his collegiate career at Ole Miss as a grad transfer, Gielo has spent the past six seasons playing professionally. His first five years were all in Spain. Gielo has bounced around a few different teams this season, most recently for s.Oliver Baskets. In 15 games this season, Gielo is averaging 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 45.1% from the field and 43.2% from three.
Keenan Gumbs
Gumbs continues to play in Sweden where he is currently playing for Kfum Nassjo Basket. He is averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game this season. He is shooting 41.2% from the field and 39% from three.
Caleb Homesley
Homesley continues to excel for the Hamburg Towers in Germany. He’s played 29 games, starting 20, and is averaging 18.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Homesley is shooting 41.1% from the field and 36% from three.
Scottie James
James is playing for Hapoel Haifa Basketball Club in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. In 14 games this season, James is averaging 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Making 13 starts, James is shooting 55.7% from the field and 22.2% from three.
Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz
Pacheco-Ortiz is currently playing in Argentina for Asociacion Deportiva Atenas. He has started all seven games he has played in, averaging 11.1 points, 2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He is shooting 43.5% fromt he field and 45% from three.
Drew Smith
In his 7th season playing professionally, Drew Smith has started 18 of the 19 games he has played in, averaging 10.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game. Smith is shooting 48.6% from the field and 31% from three for BC LF Lulea in Sweden.
