Liberty may have had an open date this weekend, but it hasn’t stopped the Flames from receiving positive press following the team’s 6-0 start to the season. For the first time in school history, Liberty received a national ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 poll with LU checking in at No. 25.
Late last week, the complete 2020-21 college football bowl schedule, which includes 37 games, was announced. All games will be televised on an ESPN channel, with the exception of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and the Arizona Bowl which will be carried on a CBS channel.
The Flames will head to Blacksburg this coming weekend for the 2nd ever meeting against Virginia Tech on the gridiron. The Hokies are currently 15 point home favorites for Saturday’s game scheduled for a noon kickoff on the ACC Network. Here’s a look at what bowl game Liberty is being projected into by various publications.
- ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura: Boca Raton Bowl vs UCF (3-2)
- ESPN’s Mark Schlabach: New Mexico Bowl vs Nevada (2-0)
- CBS’ Jerry Palm: Montgomery Bowl vs UAB (4-3)
- College Football News: Myrtle Beach Bowl vs Ohio (0-0)
The Flames are looking to return to a bowl game for the second straight season after Hugh Freeze led the program to its first ever bowl appearance a season ago when Liberty defeated Georgia Southern in the Cure Bowl.
