After a long wait, EA Sports will return its legendary college football video game franchise this summer. College Football 25 is expected to be released on July 19.

EA Sports first announced the game back in February 2021. Since then anticipation has been building for the game’s first release in over a decade.

While we are unable to submit a Freedom of Information Act request to Liberty to officially request the information they provided to EA Sports for this game, we did request information for what was provided. Here is what we found out.

STADIUM PICTURES

Liberty provided hundreds of photos of Williams Stadium so EA Sports can recreate the Flames’ stadium in the game to make it look as realistic as possible.

AUDIO FILES

Liberty also sent EA Sports an audio file of the School Fight song, Fan the Flames. It will be in the game.

UNIFORMS & HELMETS

Hundreds of photos were provided by Liberty to EA Sports of the Flames’ various uniform combinations and the helmets, including the Sparky helmet. This included photos of Liberty’s red, white, and navy blue uniforms.

PLAYER NAMES & HEADSHOTS

Liberty also provided EA Sports with updated rosters and headshots of the players on the team. Liberty had over 100 players opt into the game but EA Sports will only include 85 players on the roster when the game goes live.

FAN PHOTOS

We were told that Liberty provided fan photos to EA Sports. Not sure if this means just general photos of the crowds within Williams Stadium, or, perhaps, more specific photos of various student groups (such as the Jokers) or maybe even fans outside the stadium tailgating or walking around campus.

RECORDS

Liberty also provided a list of recent records broke, both individual player and team records to EA Sports. Assumingly, these can be used in game play if these players either add to their records or new records that are set during game play.

That is the full list of what we were told Liberty provided to EA Sports.

We’ve also learned recently that Liberty is considered a Tier 2 school in the game. With that comes a reported payout to Liberty of about $60,000. Additionally, it can be assumed that EA Sports will give more detail to a Tier 2 school than a Tier 4, for example.
