6 win season
With a win today, Liberty would have 6 wins for the 8th consecutive season. Coming into the 2013 season, the Flames were one of 10 FCS teams with active streaks of 6 win seasons dating back to at least 2006. Two of those teams (Appalachian State and Albany), will not win 6 games this year. 5 others (JMU, Montana State, Harvard, McNeese State, Jacksonville State), have already won 6 games this season. That leaves 3 (Liberty, New Hampshire, Drake) who still have a chance to extend their 6 win season streak. Both Liberty and Drake currently have 5 wins; New Hampshire has 4.
Josh Woodrum’s accuracy
Liberty quarterback Josh Woodrum was noticeably inaccurate against VMI last week, particularly in the 1st half. Josh was 4 of 14 passing going into the locker room for just 50 yards. He would bounce back some in the 2nd half as he finished 13 of 26 for 190 yards. Still, his 50% passing accuracy is the lowest of his career. Was it the wind or just an aberration? Hopefully he will be able to bounce back and have another solid outing.
Running back
Who’s going to play? And who’s going to get the carries? Des Rice and Aldreakis Allen are both battling injuries. D.J. Abnar and Clifton Richardson have not been every down backs this season. So, who’s going to get all the carries against Presby?
Special teams
One area where Presbyterian could have an advantage is on special teams. The Blue Hose rank 1st in the conference in punt returns and 2nd in kickoff returns and have 2 returns for touchdown. Both Jeremiah McKie and LaQua Mayes have been electrifying in the return game for PC. McKie and Mayes rank 1st and 2nd in the Big South, respectively, in kick return average.
Liberty does rank 1st in the Big South in kickoff coverage with a net of 43.9 yards per kickoff. The Flames do have 30 touchbacks while the rest of the conference have a combined total of 21 touchbacks. Goes to show you how strong John Lunsford’s leg is.
