Liberty picked up its first conference road victory of the season as they knocked off Campbell 82-80. What we learned against the Camels:
- The Flames were paced by Tavares Speaks’ career high 28 points. Liberty’s lone active senior was 10/13 from the free throw line.
- Liberty picked up their first conference road victory of the season and improved their road mark to 2-12 overall on the seasons. Liberty’s only other road win came against Western Carolina in December.
- Coming into this game, Liberty’s road averages on the season were as follows: 58.6 points per game, 38% shooting from the field, and was only reaching the charity stripe about 17 times per game. In this game, Liberty improved on each of these marks as they scored 82 points, shot 51% from the field, and got to the free throw line 31 times. Perhaps Liberty has turned the corner in regards to its road woes.
- Liberty is 7-3 this season when attempting 20 or more free throws.
- John Caleb Sanders continued his hot play, as he chipped in 18 points.
- Davon Marshall also reached double figures with 12.
- Campbell dropped their 6th consecutive game after starting conference play 5-1.
- Campbell had 4 players reach double figures, but only 12 total points off the bench.
