Liberty defeats Campbell 89-72 to improve to 3-5 in conference play. What we learned against the Camels:
- This was Liberty’s most complete performance of the season as they defeat the Big South North Division leading Camels.
- 3 Flames scored 20+ points in the win – Davon Marshall and Tavares Speaks with 22 and John Caleb Sanders with 21.
- Andrew Smith had his best game of his young Liberty career even though his stat line wasn’t that impressive. He finished with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks while shooting 2/2 from the field and 2/2 from the foul line. Smith had multiple highlight reel plays as we’ve become accustomed to seeing.
- JC Sanders added 7 assists to his 21 points.
- The Flames were extremely efficient as they shot 57% from the field, 53% from 3 point range, and were an impressive 26/33 from the free throw line.
- Liberty now sits just 2 games out of 1st place in the North Division. The Flames still play host to North Division opponents Radford, VMI, and High Point. This doesn’t include one more matchup against currently winless Longwood in Farmville. Liberty has a chance to make a push at the North Division lead.
Liberty now heads to Rock Hill, SC to face Winthrop on Saturday at 7pm.
…and we learned that the Flames can compete.
