The Flames dropped a home contest Saturday night to High Point. What we learned against the Panthers:
- High Point clinched at least a share of 1st place in the Big South’s North Division with the victory and VMI’s loss to Campbell. High Point and VMI meet later this week, with a victory over the Keydets, the Panthers will clinch 1st place.
- 2nd place in the North Division and the last bye, is still wide open. VMI currently holds 2nd place at 6-6. Radford and Campbell are both 6-7, and Liberty is 5-8.
- John Brown’s injured right arm was not enough to keep the freshman sensation from scoring 17 points and grabbing 6 boards.
- High Point’s Allan Chaney added an impressive 16 points and 13 boards as High Point’s front line was too much for the Flames.
- John Caleb Sanders paced Liberty with 23 points while shooting 7/12 from the field.
- Tavares Speaks added 15 points and Casey Roberts chipped in 11.
- High Point is the first Big South team to reach 10 victories and they have won 6 consecutive games.
- The Flames struggled from 3 point land going just 5/19.
Liberty returns to action in Farmville on Tuesday against Longwood.
