Liberty lost to Longwood on Tuesday night 102-101. What we learned on Longwood hate day:
- People need to relax. It was a joke. Smile. Laugh. Don’t take everything so personal. Have some fun.
- No one really “hates” Longwood, as least no one affiliated with LibertyFlamesNation.com. Look at is as a term of endearment.
- This is Division I athletics. It is a cut-throat business.
As for the actual game:
- 102-101 in regulation, wow.
- According to Ken Pomeroy, this was the first time 2 teams both went over 100 in regulation since November 2011 when VMI and the Citadel did it.
- The Flames and the Lancers combined to score 55 points in the final 4 minutes.
- Tristan Carey is that dude. Carey lit up the scoreboard & the Flames for 40 points and 12 boards. He was 8/15 from 3 point land. The rest of Longwood’s team was just 1/8 from 3.
- Davon Marshall had 2 points at halftime. He finished with 31.
- JC Sanders added 24 points and Tavares Speaks chipped in 17.
- Both teams shot over 50% from the field. Both teams combined to shoot 47% from 3.
- Liberty is still winless at Willett Hall as they fall to 0-11 all-time inside the 1,800 seat gym.
The Flames return to action on Saturday in the BracketBusters event with a match-up against Austin Peay.
