Liberty falls to 0-7 for just the second time in program history after falling to Morgan State 67-62. What we learned against Morgan State:
- With a buzzer beating 3 pointer by Tavares Speaks, Liberty finally eclipsed the 60 point mark for the first time this season.
- The Liberty offense seemed to flow much smoother in this game, than in the prior 6 games, particularly in the first half.
- Tomasz Gielo was a breathe of fresh air in the lineup after making his season debut following a hip injury. Gielo finished with 11 points on 5/6 shooting.
- Liberty had 4 players in double figures – Gielo (11), Casey Roberts (15), Davon Marshall (12), and Tavares Speaks (11).
- JR Coronado had a very quiet evening only attempting 2 field goals. He finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 fouls.
- Yes the 0-7 start is depressing, but remember at our level of play, the non-conference portion of the schedule does not matter as much as conference play. Once the Flames have a healthy Burris and VanderPol to add to Gielo, this team will be able to win some conference games.
- Liberty football’s defensive back Walt Aikens plans on returning to the basketball court this season, and should start playing in the next week or two.
- Liberty looks to avoid the program’s first ever 0-8 start Sunday against Georgia State at 3pm.
