Liberty falls to 0-5 after losing to Sam Houston State 64-50. What we learned against the Bearkats:
- Liberty’s offense is just in shambles right now as they only scored 15 points in the first half. The Flames desperately need to find an identity on that end of the floor.
- Liberty starts a season 0-5 for the first time since the 1990-91.
- 3rd straight game with a different starting lineup as we saw Marshall, Roberts, JC Sanders, Speaks, and Coronado get the start against SHSU.
- Ogukwe’s role continues to dwindle. You have to think once Burrus and Gielo are back, Sommy may not get off the bench.
- Liberty has yet to play in a competitive game deep into the 2nd half.
- The good news is, at our current level, non-conference play doesn’t matter, only conference play does. Hopefully by the time January rolls around, this team is ready to go.
- Davon Marshall continues to play extremely well as he was the only Flame in double figures last night with 15. We need to find more opportunities for him.
- JR Coronado was solid with 4 points and 8 rebounds.
Liberty plays their finale in the Legends Classic tonight against the 4-0 Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
