Liberty (1-8) picks up their first win on the season defeating Southern Virginia 76-51. What we learned against Southern Virginia:
- Most importantly: We CAN win!
- Hopefully this win will give the Flames a confidence boost going into a 11 day layoff until their next game.
- The 76 points scored is the 3rd consecutive game the Flames have set a season high for points scored.
- Balanced scoring attack against SVU as 9 Flames scored between 5 and 14 points, led by JC Sanders with 14.
- Liberty’s leading scorer on the season, Davon Marshall, did not score. Marshall only attempted 2 field goals, and missed his only 2 free throw attempts. Marshall did have a team high 8 assists to only 2 turnovers.
- JR Coronado continues to grab his share of boards, as he pulled down 8 rebounds.
- Sommy Ogukwe with his best career game as a Flame with 7 points and 9 boards.
- Liberty shot an impressive 57% from the field.
Liberty does not return to action until Saturday, December 15 when it takes on Howard University in Washington, DC at 3pm.
