While they may be an in-state opponent, you may not know much about Liberty’s next opponent, Norfolk State. Liberty leads the all-time series, 3-2, despite losing 31-24 to NSU on September 8, 2012 in Turner Gill’s debut at Williams Stadium. The Spartans play in the MEAC and are 0-1 on the season following a 10-6 loss to #24 Maine. Here is their “2014 season trailer.”
The Spartans were picked to finish 6th in the 11 team MEAC this season. How about some game highlights from their opening game against Maine?
Norfolk State led 6-0 before Maine scored the final 10 points of the game. The Spartans had just 100 yards of total offense and was just 2/15 on 3rd down conversions. At the same time, their defense was stout. Maine only gained 187 yards and was held to 3/16 on 3rd down conversions.
Remember this guy?
QB Terrance Ervin committed to Liberty in June 2013. He would eventually de-commit from the Flames and signed with Norfolk State back in February. Ervin saw brief playing time against Maine as he was 2/4 passing for 5 yards and had 3 rushes for a loss of 11 yards.

I can’t wait to watch Norfolk State run the score board up! Behold The Green And Gold!
