In an email sent to Flames Club members and season ticket holders, Liberty athletics revealed that Williams Stadium will only be allowed to have 1,000 fans in attendance to begin the season.
“Under the Governor’s Phase III guidelines, there remains a maximum crowd limit of 1000 person for outdoor events,” the email stated. “While we are hopeful that prior to the start of the season this limit will be increased, we need to move forward with a plan under this requirement.”
Liberty’s first home game is slated for Sept. 26 against Florida International. That will be the first of three consecutive games at home, as North Alabama (Oct. 3) and Louisiana-Monroe (Oct. 10) visiting the next two weeks. The Flames are also scheduled to welcome Southern Miss on Oct. 24 and Western Carolina on Nov. 14.
The Athletic Department has also set up a 2020 Liberty Football FAQ page you can access here.

As we are one month from our first home football game for the 2020 season, I am writing to update you on our plans for providing ticket options for Flames Club members and season ticket holders.
After losing multiple games due to cancellations, we recently announced a revised, 10-game football schedule that includes five home games.
In addition, we are finalizing adjustments to our game day guidelines to keep you, our fans, safe, and follow NCAA, state, and local health protocols. Under the Governor’s Phase III guidelines, there remains a maximum crowd limit of 1000 persons for outdoor events. While we are hopeful that prior to the start of the season this limit will be increased, we need to move forward with a plan under this requirement.
Regrettably, under this reduced capacity limit, we will be unable to honor season tickets in general seating areas and need to transition to a single-game ticket model. Under this plan, we hope that every fan will be afforded an opportunity to attend at least one game this year. Suite and Club seat holders will be provided additional information via email.
In the coming days, members of the Flames Club and Ticket Office staff will be contacting each season ticket holder to address ticket access and options this season. We anticipate being able to announce the capacity restrictions and ticket availability for each opponent 10-12 days in advance of each game day.
We appreciate your loyal support of the Liberty Flames and apologize that we do not have better news to share regarding seating capacity. Our 2019 Cure Bowl champions are looking forward to another great season and we ask for you to continue to support the team as we build a top FBS football program.
All 2020 season ticket holders will have three opportunities for their current ticket balance.
- Reignite – Convert the cost of their season tickets to an Annual Fund donation for the 2020 year to support our student-athletes and teams. Fans will receive triple loyalty points for 2020 (3 points for every $100 of season ticket value donated) for donations exceeding their current pledge. All current Flames Club members who donate their season tickets will have their membership level increased if their donation takes them to another giving level.
- Rollover – Convert the payment of their 2020 season tickets to 2021 season tickets, locking in the same prices as 2020 for the 2021 season.
- Refund – Receive a full refund for your season ticket purchase.
I graciously ask that you complete your Flames Club pledge for this year and consider converting your season ticket payment into a donation to support our student-athletes and teams. At Liberty we are very blessed, however, the prospect of a drastic loss of ticket revenue will significantly impact our ability to support our student-athletes at the Championship level.
Coming off the most successful year in Liberty Athletics, we call on you to help us to keep moving forward in advancing the vision of Liberty Athletics.
